4. EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION / 4. शैक्षणिक अर्हता
- (1) Bachelor’s or Master’s or Doctorate Degree from a recognised university in Food Technology or Dairy Technology or Biotechnology or Oil Technology or Agricultural Science or Veterinary Science or Biochemistry or Microbiology or Chemistry or Medicine; OR
- (2) Graduate or Post-Graduate or Doctorate degree from a recognised university/institute in any of the “Food Technology” or “Agricultural Science” subjects listed in the table below; OR
- (3) Bachelor of Medicine & Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) or Bachelor of Homoeopathic Medicine & Surgery (BHMS) or Bachelor of Unani Medicine & Surgery (BUMS) or Bachelor of Siddha Medicine & Surgery (BSMS) or Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine & Surgery (BAMS) or Bachelor of Sowa Rigpa Medicine & Surgery; OR
- (4) Any other recognised course and qualification notified from time to time by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), New Delhi, with prior approval of the Central Government, for appointment to the post of Food Safety Officer.
- Selected candidates will be appointed only after training as per the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006 / Rules, 2011 and FSSAI guidelines.

- Bihar Govt. regular servants with 3 years continuous service: 5 years relaxation.
- Ex-Servicemen: 3 years + period of defence service, provided actual age does not exceed 57 years on the date of application.
- Only one of the above relaxations (PwD / Govt. servant / Ex-Servicemen) will be allowed.
- Date of birth as recorded in Matriculation or equivalent certificate will be accepted.

- Reservation benefit only to permanent residents (domicile) of Bihar; claim must be made in the online form.
- 35% horizontal reservation for women – only for permanent residents of Bihar.
- Horizontal reservation for benchmark PwD – only for Bihar domicile candidates.
- 2% horizontal reservation for grandchildren of freedom fighters (Bihar) – certificate in prescribed format required.
- BC/EBC must submit Non-Creamy Layer certificate; caste certificate alone not valid.
- Transgender candidates get BC reservation benefit.
- Reserved category cannot be changed after registration.
