Graduates who passed between 1 January 2023 and 1 September 2026 and are aged 20 to 28 can apply. There is no written exam. PwBD reservation is horizontal: 32 HI, 30 OC, 39 VI and 24 ID seats in total. Karnataka has the most seats (581), followed by Uttar Pradesh (409) and Tamil Nadu (391).
Candidates can apply for only one State and will rank all districts of that state by preference. District allotment is need-based, and the bank can place an apprentice in any district of the chosen state.
Eligibility Criteria
All eligibility conditions are counted as on 1 September 2026.
Educational Qualification
You need a graduation degree in any discipline from a university recognised by the Government of India, or an equivalent qualification. The degree must have been passed between 1 January 2023 and 1 September 2026 (both dates included).
Age Limit
The minimum age is 20 years and the maximum is 28 years. You must be born between 2 September 1998 and 1 September 2006 (both dates included).

Who Is Not Eligible
- Candidates who have already done or are currently doing apprenticeship training under the Apprentices Act, 1961, with Canara Bank or anywhere else.
- Candidates with one year or more of training or job experience after their qualification.
- Ex-servicemen and disabled ex-servicemen; there is no reservation for them.
Local Language Test
If your 10th or 12th marksheet shows you studied the local language of the state you choose, you are exempt from the test. Everyone else takes a local language test during document verification, and failing it means you will not be engaged.
Stipend
Apprentices get ₹16,650 per month, paid in two parts:
- Canara Bank share: ₹10,500 per month, credited directly to your account.
- Government share: ₹6,150 per month, credited through DBT.
No other allowances or benefits are paid. Apprentices are not employees of the bank, and PF, ESI and bonus rules do not apply.
Selection Process
There is no written exam. The steps are:
- State-wise merit list based on 12th (HSC/10+2) or Diploma percentage.
- Document verification.
- Local language test, where it applies.
- Medical fitness.
The minimum marks required in 12th or Diploma are 60%, or 55% for SC/ST/PwBD candidates. Fractions are ignored, so 59.99% counts as below 60%.
If two candidates have the same percentage, the older candidate ranks higher. CGPA or OGPA must be converted to a percentage, and you must have a certificate from your board or university showing the conversion norms.
How to Apply for Canara Bank Apprentice 2026
Step 1: Register on the NATS portal. Go to nats.education.gov.in, register, and complete your profile to 100%. Note down your enrollment number, because only candidates with a complete profile can apply.
Step 2: Open the Canara Bank careers page. Go to www.canarabank.bank.in → Careers → Recruitment → Engagement of Graduate Apprentices in Canara Bank under Apprentices Act, 1961 for FY 2026-27.
Step 3: Register. Click “Click Here for New Registration” and fill in your basic details. Save the provisional registration number and password you receive.
Step 4: Fill the form. Enter your NATS enrollment ID, education details, state and district preferences. Your name must match your Class 10 certificate exactly.
Step 5: Upload documents. Upload your photo, signature, left thumb impression and handwritten declaration in the sizes listed below.
Step 6: Pay and submit. Pay the fee online, click Final Submit, and print both the application form and the e-receipt.

Other Key Terms
- Training period: 12 months at selected branches, during the clerical cadre’s working hours.
